Arranging your site menu

Put pages in the order you want, rename or hide a link, add an external link, and preview the menu before publishing.

Updated

Your site menu is the row of links at the top of your website and the menu visitors open on a phone. Every page uses the same order and names.

Open Menu

In the editor sidebar, under Website, choose Menu. The left side lists every link you can arrange. The preview on the right switches between Desktop and Phone and updates while you work.

Your template's main call-to-action button is shown below the list. Its words and destination belong to the template, so it stays in place when you arrange the other links.

  • Drag a row to a new place, or use its Move up and Move down buttons.
  • Type in a link's name to change only what the menu says. This does not rename the page itself.
  • Use the visibility control to switch a page between Shown and Hidden. A hidden page keeps its web address and can still be reached from other links.

Choose Save menu when the order and names look right. The change waits with your other unpublished changes and goes live only when you choose Publish.

Pages that are not published yet

A page of your own can be placed in the menu before it is public. Its row says Appears once published and offers a Publish shortcut. The link starts appearing after that page and the menu are published.

Add another website

Choose Add External Link, give the link a short name and enter its full address beginning with https:// or http://. You can reorder, hide or remove an external link like any other menu item.

Menu items stay in one clear list. Submenus are not available yet. A single level works consistently with every template, on phones and with a keyboard or screen reader.

What to expect

Saving shows Waiting to publish and adds Site menu to the unpublished changes list. Visitors keep seeing the current menu until Publish finishes. A link to an unpublished page stays off the public menu until that page is public.

If something goes wrong

If an external link is refused, check that it is a complete https:// or http:// address. If another editor publishes a different menu while yours is open, reload Menu before saving or publishing again so you can arrange the latest version.
