You don't have to run your website alone. Invite a partner, a family member or a helper, and they get their own sign-in to your website. Nobody shares a password, and you choose what each person may change.
The two roles
| Role | What they can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything an editor can do, plus billing, the web address, people, and taking the website offline. |
| Editor | Edits the website’s content and pages, and publishes. |

A website can have more than one owner, and always has at least one.
Give someone the editor role if they'll keep your dogs, litters and pages up to date. Make them an owner only if they should also handle billing, your domain and who else has access.
Invite someone
Only owners can invite people. You need to have confirmed your own email address first.
- Choose Members in the sidebar.
- Under Invite someone, type their email address.
- Choose their role. Editor is chosen for you.
- Press Send Invitation.
They get an email with a link that works for 7 days. Until they accept, the invitation is listed under Invitations waiting, where you can Cancel it.
Accept an invitation
If someone invited you:
- Open the email and choose Accept the invitation.
- Create an account, or sign in, with the same email address the invitation was sent to.
- Press the Join button, which names the website you're joining.
The website then appears in your editor, and under Your other websites on the Members screen if you work on more than one.
Change a role or remove someone
On the Members screen, under People:
- Make Owner or Make Editor changes a person's role. This is also how you hand your website over to someone else: make them an owner, then leave or change your own role.
- Remove takes someone off your website. They can no longer edit it. Everything they made stays.
To step away yourself, choose Leave Website. If you are the only owner, make someone else an owner first.
What to expect
- An invitation lasts 7 days. After that, send a new one.
- Owners and editors can both publish. Each page has one draft that everyone on your website shares, so it helps to agree who edits which page.
- If two people edit the same page at once, the editor tells the second one the page "changed in another window" and asks them to reload. See Editing your site on the page.
- Draft my website and pedigree readings come from your website's allowance, which everyone on it shares.
If something goes wrong
- The invitation email didn't arrive. Ask them to check spam, then cancel the invitation and send it again. There is a daily limit on invitations, so don't send many in a row.
- "This invitation has expired." Invitations last 7 days. Send a new one.
- They signed in and the invitation didn't work. They are signed in with a different email address. They should choose Sign Out and Switch, then sign in with the address the invitation was sent to.
- "Only an owner can manage the people on this website." Ask an owner to invite people or change roles.
- "A website needs at least one owner." Make someone else an owner before you remove yourself, or change your own role.
