When your kennel has many records, you can change several at once instead of opening each one. This works on the Dogs and Productions screens, and on the Photos screen's library, where the one action is Delete (see Your photo library).
Choose the records
- Checkbox: on a computer, point at a card to see its checkbox, or press Tab to reach it. Check the ones you want. Hold Shift while checking a second card to choose every card between the two.
- Select button: press Select above the list. Every card gets a checkbox, and tapping or clicking a card chooses it instead of opening it.
- On a phone: press and hold a card for half a second to start choosing, or use Select. Press Done selecting when you finish.
- Select this page chooses the cards you can see. Select all chooses every record your search and filters match, on every page, when that is 200 or fewer. With more, narrow the list first by searching or filtering.
Your choices carry across pages of the same search and filters. Changing the search, the filters or the order starts a fresh selection, so you only ever change the records the list describes.
What you can do
A bar at the bottom of the list shows how many are chosen and the actions:
- Set status (on Dogs): choose a status, then press Apply.
- Show on website and Hide from website.
- Feature and Unfeature.
- Archive on Dogs, or Delete on Productions. You are asked first, and the question names how many.
- In the Archive view of Dogs, Restore brings the chosen records back.
Like changing one record, these changes go live on your public website straight away. They do not wait for Publish. You can change up to 200 records in one step.
What to expect
- The bar says what happened, for example "Archived 12 dogs." After archiving, Undo is there for a few seconds. Archived records keep their details, photos and relationships, and can be restored later from the Archive view.
- Deleting productions removes them and their photos for good, so there is no Undo, the same as deleting one production. Use Hide from website instead if you may want them back. Dogs work differently: Archive can be undone.
- Plan limits apply the same way as for one record. If moving several dogs to Active would go past your plan's limit, nothing is changed and you are shown what your plan includes.
- A change is all or nothing. If anything in it can't be done, none of the records are changed.
If something goes wrong
- "Nothing was changed" with a plan message: make room, for example by archiving or retiring some dogs, or upgrade, then try again.
- "Some of those are no longer on your site": another person or tab changed the list. Refresh the page, choose again and retry.
- We couldn't reach the server: check your connection. Nothing was changed, so you can try again.
- "The most one action can change" and greyed-out actions: you have chosen more than 200 records by adding pages. Clear some, or narrow the list, and the actions come back.
- No Select all button: your search or filters match more than 200 records. Narrow them, or choose pages one at a time.
